The Bean at 17 weeks

Kind of looks like Rodin's "The Thinker," except rolled sideways, eh?

The big round circle at the top and toward the left is the head, and I think the dangly things to the right and a little lower are the legs. Or the arms. The tech said the baby was all curled up--like arms and legs were pretty much in the same place, down below the belly.

So it's sideways--head left, limbs right. And the baby itself is just at the top of the picture. I think it's resting sideways on the placenta; that is, I think the placenta is the big hill-like thing taking up most of the image. The more I look at it, the more it looks like some Greek god on a divan holding some grapes mouth-ward.

But in truth, the only thing I know for sure is that the obviously circular thing toward the top left is the head.; 7/6/06, 1:11 PM
