Updates

Just as I hit "publish post" for the bit below, ESPN was linking to two stories about the game on its main page!  The links: Tech losses Knight at halftime | Centenary wins.  An unfortunate typo in the former; a simple beauty in the latter.

Centenary's athletics site paraphrases the issue this way: "A group of 20 to 30 Centenary students baited Bob Knight as he passed by.  Knight stopped, turned, and headed back towards the section with a pointed finger.  After a few words to the crowd he disappeared into the tunnel to meet up with his team."

HA HA. The headline should probably read: Bobby Knight attempts to interact with other humans, catastrophe ensues.

Other humans? Are we sure he's one of us?

Now that Cate has confirmed the tale, I wonder: why have the media not covered the story in this way? I'm befuddled.

Must be related to their inability to craft perfect headlines, a talent which Dr. Sic clearly has in spades.

what, and ruin the stint of lazy, obtuse journalism they've got going? I think not.

I think the Times has confused interesting with sensationalism

(my point being that maybe they are trying to not be sensationalist, and therefore being uninteresting.)

But what do I know? I've only been reading the times for 22 or so years.

Y'all have to remember that this is the same guy who got physical with an INDIANA student that called him, "Knight". To my knowledge, the kid was actually a fan of his. Anyway, Bobby Knight is fully aware of his legendary status. Don't be surprised to see him grow long hair and claws and go roll around in the wilderness before long.
